Welcome Junior Golfers

Welcome to the new 2019 Junior golf season at Brightwood Golf & Country Club.  During the 2019 golf season you will have the chance to take part in a variety of different events that will be designed for you to have fun while learning the great game of golf. 

Over the course of the golf season we will be offering weekly golf clinics open to players of all ages and abilities along with the Junior golf day and other Junior events.  All of the dates and times will be laid out in detail below.  

Brightwood's Junior Golf program is designed to help Junior golfers of all ages and abilities fall in love with the game of golf.  We will introduce the players to the rules of golf, etiquette, handicap system and the history and social aspect of Brightwood.  All of our Junior members are a part of Golf Canada and will be required to keep a handicap during the golf season. 

Junior Opening/Orientation

Junior orientation for Junior members and parents will take place (Date To Be Determined).  This will be a chance for everyone to meet our professional staff and volunteers that will be helping with the Junior program.  This is also a great opportunity to meet other Junior golfers and their families.  We will discuss the clinics along with the other procedures that will need to be followed when the Juniors are at the course.  


Beginner Clinics- Ages 9-16

This program is designed to introduce new Junior golfers to the game of golf with fun and exciting exercise which will allow our Juniors to learn to love the game.  Clinics will be one (1) hour in length and run for six (6) weeks

Little Swingers Clinics- Ages 5-8

This program is designed to introduce your golfers to the game in a fun and exciting atmosphere.  These clinics will be thirty (30) minutes in length.

Girls Rock Golf Clinics- Junior girls of all ages and abilities

This program is designed to allow Junior girls to meet, learn and play with other girls that are members as well as bring some friends to the course.

Junior Days

On Saturdays at 4:00PM Brightwood Junior golfers are invited to get out and play 8-holes of golf with other Junior golfers.  This event will be open to all Juniors, regardless of ability or age.  Junior members will play the golf course from a special sset of tees on each hole, making the course accessible/Junior friendly.  These afternoons enable Juniors to work on the skills they have worked on during the diferent clinics they have taken part in, play with other Junior members and build confidence in their game.  

The format will change from week to week which will allow us to keep things exciting and fun all season long.

Junior Club Championship

This is a fun event for all of our Juniors to take part in.  It will give thema a chance to compete against other Juniors and to see how all of the work they put in over the summer has paid off.  This can be a great stepping stone for their development as a golfer and can propel them to new heights.

Tournaments are an important part of the program. Juniors are involved in the organization of Junior club tournaments. A calendar of club tournaments is found on the calendar section of the club website.


The Junior Director in consultation with the Committee is responsible with a budget provided by the Board. In addition, the Junior Executive raises Funds for special requirements and to supplement the budget provided by the Board.

Junior awards and year end closing:  The official closing is held during September.

The following activities are usually included:
  • A fun Tournament - 9 Hole Scramble
  • Election of the Junior Executive for the following year
  • Presentation of awards and closing remarks

The distribution of Male to Female awards reflects the number of Junior boys to Junior girls in the Junior program. The purpose of these awards is to encourage all Juniors to become involved in all aspects of the program. Awards are also presented to winners and runners-up of the Junior match play tournaments at the Closing.
